It was 2 am.She felt bad for what had just happened. But she could not help it;she was scared. She loved him more than anything in the whole world and could not even stand the thought of anything bad happening to him.She had just had a nightmare;such a horrible one that she did not even want to think about it.In her dream she had seen her husband dying in her arms. She had woken up with a jolt, sweating and pale. She had immediately woken her husband up and told him about her nightmare and begged him to stay back home the next day. He,being the sweet person that he was, calmed her down and tried to put her back to sleep. As she lay on the bed again, she felt bad for having behaved in such a silly way.She knew what an important day tomorrow was for him.She ignored all her negative thoughts, saying to herself that it was just a stupid dream, and did'nt mean a thing. But somehow, she could not just muster the courage to even shut her eyes again, lest she sees that horrid scene again. So she just lay there on the bed, listening to his deep breathing, and seeing his smile-- that charming smile of his that had bowled her over right from the first time. She remembered their first rendezvouz. She had been invited to a dinner party by a friend. As she sat there drinking some wine, she saw him.She was surprised because it was his photos doing the rounds in all the newspapers, all over the world. And why not;he was the youngest Prime Minister ever to be elected in the history of the whole world. So she was surprised that all that fame had not made him forget his old friends. The host of the party introduced him to her.She still thought that he probably would have his head held high, somewhere on cloud nine. But she was completely proved wrong and totally bowled over.He was the most charming, interesting and down-to-earth person she had ever met. They exchanged phone numbers, kept in touch and then friendship blossomed into love.Soon, they were married and she was the happiest she had ever been in her whole life.
He was the most intelligent person she had ever known, and hard working too. After all, even though he was the youngest Prime Minister,it was he who had managed to form a peace-status with the country that they had constantly been at war with.Such was his negotiation skills. Tomorrow was going to be the biggest day in his life, when he would go and shake hands with the Prime Minister of the other country and sign the peace treaty.
She felt bad, for having woken him up in the middle of his sleep, even after knowing the importance of the next day in his life.
Tomorrow came. She had gotten up early and had everything ready for him.She had never seen him so excited before. She was so happy for him. Both of them got ready and left for the informal party that had been arranged before the treaty-signing meeting.
As they got down from the car, there were hundreds of cameras clicking their pictures and thousands of his fans cheering him on. She had gotten used to all this attention by now.She was so proud of her husband.
And then she heard it;a loud BANG! And then, the same sound, six more times. Her husband fell into her arms, his whole body stained with his blood.
And then,THERE WAS SILENCE....................................
There was silence, inspite of the loud yells of the terrified people.
There was silence, inspite of the screeching cars coming to a halt.
There was silence, inspite of the loud sounds of the scared animals and birds.
There was silence, inspite of the clicking cameras.
There was silence, inspite of the faint sound of the ambulance that she could hear somewhere in the distance.
She knew it was over. That was a chapter in her life that had been closed forever. She knew there was nothing that could be done.
She knew, that there would be silence in her life now..............a silence that could not be filled,EVER!!!

"One-four and a half"th there!!!!
The four and a half years of studying medicine is the longest, most difficult,a nerve-racking,mentally pressurising period for a student................................... or so they say!!! ;)
When you realise that you have one year less of it now,you feel ecstatic!!!
I come back home.Amma comes out to open the gate.I find something weird.Amma is grinning----from ear to ear. Then i realise. Results out right? i ask her.She says yes.I close my ears because i dont want to hear anything more.I run upstairs, turn the computer on.It takes forever to get connected to the website(Murphy's law of life--You want something really really badly, thats when you dont get it!!!).I can hear the phone ringing in the next room.I'm not even budging from my place,it can wait! Finally, finally the result page comes. All i can see is "pass" written all over the page. The feeling is euphoric!Thats it--that is the last sane thing i could see!
I can just see blurring faces around me,all with something white glaring out--must be the teeth.I cant recognise anyone.I can hear muffled voices in the background, all yelling some very familiar word--sounds like congrats! The phone in my hand is beeping away to glory. My brain ceases to function and words fail to form.I become like early man--just shouting cries of victory and jumping all over the place!!!
Just one thought running over and over inside my head---i passed??
Next day:
I wake up.The hangover is terrible.I could'nt sleep well last night because i could'nt sleep at all! Hope it was all not a dream! I go and put on the computer again and check my results.Pass, indeed!! WHOA!!It sinks in now!!! Bloody hell,i'm through with one year!!!
That's great!! No more answering the questions of some of those khadoos 1st year lecturers, who you dreaded even looking at.No more getting yelled at by every other security guard in the corridor(i mean, cmon,we're no more the baby juniors now--i think that counts for something!!).No more getting yelled at in the bus, because we get to have juniors onto whom we can shift the blame(hehe). No more getting shouted at by all those attenders in the biochem lab for not cleaning the test tubes. No more being confined just to the college buildings,we finally get to step into the place we actually must be in--the hospital!!
But coming to think of it,we're pretty much gonna miss everything!! Be it all the yellings from basically everybody on the planet,or or all the natak we do in physio lab just to become the subject,so that we get to be the ones to sleep on the bed,or the times when some lecturers have yelled at us saying nobody is going to marry us if we go on harassing the poor attender(heheh)..
And of course, our dissection time. After having stayed in the dissection hall for practically half the year,it's going to be pretty sad to leave it.yeah,it's going to be tough to leave behind all the memories of our dissection table!Especially our table, which was easily the only table that has had SO much fun, considering how not even a single lecturer bothered to even come our way.Yeah,we were the "outcastes" and proud of it too!! :) Be it the times we've played antakshari(read "all the time"),or all the "birthday gifts and surprises" in the dissection hall,or the times(to the power infinity) we've tried consoling sowmya, who herself would'nt know why she's crying,or the times we've spent laughing our asses off with the goddess of mimicry-sheena at her best,or the times we've spent rolling our eyes at moy's pjs and pole dancing skills,or the times we've all spent teasing the hell out of somo and sowjanya,or the times we've tried to make sneha laugh,ACTUALLY laugh and not that stiffled rib-breaking thing she calls a laugh,or the times when sindhu and vidya would have had enough of us and gone to the other end of the table to try studying but end up getting lured back towards us in the end,or the times with supriya's never-ever-ending laughter(angelman's syndrome,indeed!!)........Man!!gonna definitely miss it all!! Sad that we won't be spending as much faltu time together as we did in our 1st year dissection table no.6 --- "sixy chicks",indeed!!!
First year has been a total ball!!! It has'nt been half as tough as what people made it out to be----what with the never ending speeches of dedication, sincerity, hard work,perseverance,blah,blah,blah............................words that give me the heebie-jeebies!!! The only word that could best describe us as we were in the first year is -- JOBLESS!!! And i believe that if we continue putting in our maximum efforts in the coming years,we could easily give an inferiority complex to mr.govinda for being more jobless than him!! heheh...
Well one down----- three and a half more to go!!
Cheers!!!

Cannibal Holocaust
Cannibal Holocaust!!! Ever heard of this documentary???
Well i think it shd have more aptly been called CORONARY HOLOCAUST!!!
bcoz its sure to render strong hearts weak n weak hearts weaker!!! A word of advice:If while watchin the movie somebody with a weak heart closes his eyes, dont directly conclude tht he has just dozed off! Check his pulse once........
Yeah i had an idea tht the movie would be gross, but i definitely underestimated the level of grossness!!!
After being subjected to constant bragging frm my brother abt how he had managed to sit thru the whole movie, swathi n i decided to watch the movie to find out what all the hullaballoo was abt!!! We put on the dvd n started watchin the movie. The 1st 20 mins was fine....Then it came!! A scene whr the uncivilized cannibal tribals perform a "ritual" to punish a woman who has committed the sin of adultery.........................our hearts started beatin faster,tachycardia,tachypnea,tachy-everything,legs flexed, torso flexed even more.....all this to ward off tht clenching, horrible, terrible feeling in the stomach!! Then came the nausea..... We just HAD to shut the bloody computer down n throw the dvd away, vowing never ever to see tht movie........EVER!! We started thinking of nice, happy thoughts to try n prevent any potential nightmares in the making....Such was the effect of tht one scene on us!!!
Fast forward MANY months:
Yesterday,i found the dvd tht v had thrown away safely out of normal eyesight..i decided tht i MUST watch the movie, come what may!! I said to myself tht it was a question of my bravery, blah blah blah.................... All the pep talk bcoz this time,i had no company too!!
I had a light lunch bcoz i figured tht IF i was gonna puke,it rather be in small amounts, considerin my mom was not thr at home to clean the mess!!! :)
I put the dvd on..........after 20 mins came the 'ritual' scene!! Again tachycardia, tachypnea, legs flexed, torso flexed to ward off tht horrible feeling in the stomach,a terrible lump-like feeling in ur throat..............n finally the scene was over n it felt like victory!! Just then i remembered tht when i had told my bro abt r failed attempt to watch the movie last time,he had told me tht the 'ritual' was the mildest scene in the movie....... "MILDEST"??? i mean,c'mon, they changed the meaning of 'mild' in the dictionary n nobody thought it necessary to tell me???
Then i saw what he meant.............
Considerin tht im a medical student,I think i was a wee bit less petrified than anyone else would have been bcoz i atleast already knew what the human body looks like when its openend up......But even i havent seen anyone killin ppl n openin up the body with stones,or seen ppl EATIN all the organs of the human body,or seen the weird things they did in the name of 'rituals',or seen the live killing of pigs, rats, tortoises for dinner, with the twitchin n al................
The catch of the movie was tht most of the things the tribals did were instigated by a couple of normal human beings who had gone there callin themselves 'explorers'(i call them jerks!!!)......
The movie just doesnt seem to get over at all.....But when it finally does,it leaves u with a tongue-tie n a lump in ur throat n a horrible wrenchin feelin in ur stomach n scenes frm the movie in ur mind everytime u blink!!!
The last line of the movie, specially, hits u:"I wonder who the real cannibals are!!"
A large number of animals were definitely harmed in the making of this movie,a lot of dead bodies(which could otherwise be used in the making of a few doctors in some medical college) wasted!! But all said, this movie is definitely one helluva MASTERPIECE!!!!
Watch it,atleast once!!!

Joga Gundi...
I knew tht 'gundi' meant 'button'..So i kept wonderin y everybody calls the jog falls as joga gundi....Well,what i did'nt know was tht 'gundi' also means the depth of the falls!!!
From there to now being able to quote Dr.Rajkumar,i sure have come a long way in kannada "literature",thanks to my faltu friends!!! :)
sayo munche jeevanadalli omme nodi joga gundi
--Dr.Rajkumar.............
I wondered what so much hype was all about!!! Anyone who had been to jog falls recently couldnt stop raving abt it!!! They would just go on n on n on n on n on n...........on n on..... abt how it is the perfect season to go thr n abt how beautiful the waterfalls look!!! It even had me to the extent of thinkin, what havent u seen ur lil nephew pee??? heheh jus kiddin........... But with all tht hype surroundin it,when my friends decided tht all of us shd go on a trip to jog falls,i thought chalo,so NOW il know what tht "inexplicable beauty" as everyone called it is!!! I wanted to know what was the big difference.........i mean,y go to jog falls when u could probably see the photographs on every 2nd album on orkut!!! :)
AND i was jagged!!! It was amazing to look at the jog falls, flowin away to glory under the shining sun(yup,it was a sunny day!!). But the best part was when we had to lie down on the rocks n look down the falls...We were looking more than 9000 feet down and could see the falls all comin together n joining.....it looked like mist,or rather fog,was joining!!! Tht left us speechless for sometime....totally tongue-tied!!! And just when i thought tht was the best part,r guide told us tht as its a sunny day,u can walk down the rocks n reach the bottom of the falls n have a look. We started walkin down, without an idea of how tiring it could get.We had to trek for almost an hour, most of them started cribbin, but when we reached the bottom n could feel the water frm the falls sprinkling on our sweaty, dirty faces even when we were still at a distance from it,we knew it was all worth it!!! How beautiful it looked from there, nobody can possibly explain!!!So im not even gonna try explainin...................
But now i can say,tht even with all the hype surrounding jog,it still is one of the most under-rated beauties of karnataka!!!
I have always had this desire of travelling around the world..But as i sat in the KSTDC bus office n saw the photographs of all the places of karnataka,i realised how much more i had to see in karanataka only as yet!!! Heheh let alone the fact tht many of them(my bro included) think tht i still have a LOT to see in bangalore itself (bcoz im not a very good pub-map in the 'pub city' of the country!!! hehe ;))
And the trip itself!!! AMAZING!!! What a pity it was only for 2 days,though...
Everythin right frm the coffee (which they said tasted like hot water),or the toilets (which were so beautifully scented tht if once somebody visited it,he didnt need a mosquito repellant any more),the changing rooms( where 10 of us had to scrummage in),or the dustbins(for which u had to enter the pakkad room!!hehe),or the mungaru-male-bubbles,mungaru-male-halu,mungaru-male-guide,basically mungaru-male-everythin made the trip even more wonderful,if anything!!! :)
In a gist,a totally SUPERK trip!!! :)

Frozen thoughts,indeed!!
Here I am............................
A sleepy head, somewhere in the heart of bangalore.........most of the times, just loafin around(quotin kittu sir,"circuit hodiyodu"),n the other times, rottin my gluteus maximus in front of the tv or wit a book in my hand or under the refuge of my bedsheet!!!....... not to mention, the constant tank filling tht keeps happenin.........the capacity of my stomach is definitely atleast a zillion times the normal level!!!
Im sure tht if i happen to trace back my roots,i would turn out to be a cross breed between bakasur's family n kumbhkarn's family!!! :)
Being so lazy does get to you sometimes n thr is a sudden surge of excitement to do somethin creative..............yeah it happens to me too, even though the development of the "creative-part" part of my brain stopped in sub-threshold levels!!!
Now,talkin abt creativity........................what would be the best shot for me to try my hand at??? Drawing??? hehehe.............. tht wd probably be the worst choice for me..................... Somehow even during my school days, i never got past the "memory drawing" of 2 hills, with a valley in between,a river n a hut...............n if i was in a good mood, probably a lady(dont know if she looked like one though!!) carryin a pot!!! That was as far as i could get.........That used to be my constant drawing for ALL exams n competitions alike(Talk abt "consistency"!! heheh).............n i would always wonder y the teacher gave me a B+ for this magnificient piece of art!!! :)
So strike off "drawing" frm the list...............
Singing?? heheh......... Think i shd just let tht be for the really long time i spend in the shower(tht is IF at all my mood permits me to even consider havin a bath!! ;) ) I totally suck at singin, but i totally LOU singin!!! heheh how ironic!!! My parents n bro have somehow managed to get used to my "braying" skills but lets take a minute to show some pity n sympathize with tht poor husband of mine, who totally wouldnt have expected this bombardment!!! heheh....... he ll remain wonderin y everybody suddenly locked him up in a house with a braying lunatic they probably adopted frm some zoo!!!
So singing off the list too..............
I have always liked writing!! Not much, even just penning down some thoughts!! I ve tried writing diaries.........MANY times,in fact!!.........which somehow dont manage to last more than a few days........ Laziness always overtakes tht initial josh n excitement!!
Then i tried givin it a fancy name........called it a "journal"!!! ...which was an even bigger flop show!!!! heheh................
So now thought il give it a promotion n try an even fancier name....... a BLOG!!!
Lets see how long THIS lasts!!!! :)
Like i said, not much........just gonna jot down a few thoughts tht have been frozen in my memory for the past 18 yrs.......................or a few thoughts tht come up!!
So this is just a place for the coalescence of the frozen thoughts in my head!!!
Here's to me n my new pursuit..............................................................................
Cheers!!! :)
